Sparkle and Shine Challenge # 23

Hi there and welcome back to my blog.

It's time for another challenge at Sparkle and Shine Challenge. We have a great inspiration photo for you. I'm not going to share it here. I want you to hop over to the blog and check it out and also all the fabulous creations by the rest of the DT.

This month our challenge is sponsored by the awesome Create A Smile Stamps. A $25 gift card...WOW!!!

I created a layout for this challenge using a photo of my brother and sister-in-law. We always tease both of them that I can NEVER seem to get a decent photo of them!!

I was inspired by the inspiration photo to use the love theme and my "bling" this month is the gorgeous gold foil doily and alphas.

PP, stickers, ribbon tag, doily, ephemera: Crate Paper
Ink, Die: Tim Holtz

Here are a couple of close-ups.

I  hope you get a chance to play along!

Thiessen Gathering

Can I get a whoop whoop??? Yes another page done for my parents calendar!!

Every year we get together with my Mom's side of the family for Christmas. It used to be in December when I was young and then as the family grew it started being held in November and then this year it ended up being October!!!
Before you know it we will have Christmas in July!!! Lol!!

I again used a sketch to get me started and it was from DCWV for their stackaholic challenge.
I will also enter this into the challenge at Clique Kits.

Engagement

Boy oh boy life has been busy and I'm starting to freak out that Christmas is around the corner and I AM NOT READY!!!!

Still not done my Christmas gift calendars but I got another layout done for my parents calendar today. It's a layout of my nephew Matthew and his fiancé Ashley.

PP, chipboard & ephemera: Maggie Holmes
Washi & doily: unk

Once again I kept it simple and pretty one dimensional since it's going on a calendar.

I used the November sketch at Scrapbook Circle and will also be joining the challenge at Clique Kits.

Always

I was able to get another layout done for the calendar that I make my parents for Christmas and this one actually features a photo of my parents from this past Mother's Day. I am truly blessed to still have them in my life!

Again I have to hold back on a lot of dimension because they don't want a bulky calendar....lol!!

Anyhow I played along with the sketch at Stuck On You Sketches and this is what I came up with. Sketches are always such a great jumping off point don't you think?

PP: Glitz, A.C., Fancy Pants, Cartabella
Ephemera: Crate

@ The Mandarin

My parents always take us all out for supper in June to celebrate my birthday and my daughter's birthday and this year my sister and her husband were able to come also so I snapped this photo of them.

I make a calendar for my parents for Christmas and this layout will be in it. I have to be very careful of not adding too much bulk and dimension since they write all their appointments etc. in this calendar.

I played along with a sketch at Scraptastic but It looks like I'm too late to link up. Boo hoo. :(

PP: Webster's, Crate, Pebbles. O.A.
Stickers: Studio Calico, Simple Stories
Mist: Heidi Swapp
Ink: Memento
Doily: Recollection

So I hope you will join us at Seize the Birthday and either create an anything goes birthday card or take the challenge and use the topping option!!!

Debate Team Card Kit

Happy Friday everyone! I would like to share some more cards that I created with the May Debate Team Card kit.

I die cut out the word “happy” and a flourish element from black cardstock and then used the negative piece as my focal point for my card. Behind it I placed the dictionary type paper that is in the kit so it peeks out from the die cuts. I embellished with a few sequins from the store and my card was done.

My next card was all about the patterned paper in the kit that looks like cork. I first made a background layer using the brown cardstock and a muted piece of paper from the kit and stitched around it with my sewing machine WITHOUT using any thread just to poke holes all around the edge. Next I took a butterfly punch and made 9 butterflies out of that fabulous “cork” paper and placed them in 3 rows on the card and put a pearl in the center of each.

My “Hello” sentiment is made using the Jillibean alphas in the kit.

In the kit is this map type paper and I matted it with the striped paper which made me think of air mail envelopes. Do they even still exist? Maybe I am dating myself….lol!

I used the following items from the store to embellish  my card. Blue sequins, Flair.

I hope you will pop over to the Paper Bakery store and pick up a card kit for yourself!

More Love Potion

More of the Love Potion #9 Card Kit that is from Paper Bakery. You've already seen 2 cards that I made with this kit and here are 3 more.

This first card uses one of the free cut files "xoxo" that you get when you order the kit as a member. I love that floral paper from the Pebbles paper pad.
I added some of these resin hearts from the store and ended up with a sweet Valentine card.

Here is a little closeup of the cut file.

On this next card I used another one of the cut files....the heart....and made it the focal point.
Some enamel dots, flair from the kit and some heart sequins that I believe came in a previous kit and a bit of machine stitching and I had another Valentine Card.

This last card shows that you can use the kit for more than a lovey dovey card. I used some of the more masculine papers from the paper pad and some of the awesome Crate stickers and I now have a card ready for my Dad's birthday!

I highly recommend getting this kit before they are sold out!!

Paper Bakery Sketch

The sketch challenge at Paper Bakery is another fabulous one that was created by Juliana.
